Who Should Take This Qualification ?

You should take this course if you have a specific responsibility to be able to safely administer and monitor the effects or emergency medical gases within the prehospital environment. You may be a first aider working in a specific environment where a risk assessment has identified the requirements for emergency medical gases, or you could work within the prehospital care sector itself.


To attend the Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) you must already possess as a minimum a valid, in-date First Aid at Work certificate.

If you are in any doubt about the prerequisites please get in touch with us.  We will require to see you current certificate before you start the Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) to confirm eligibility. 

You will be required to complete practical activities & assessments during the Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF). Learners should be physically capable of performing this tasks, which may include bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. If you qualification or course includes a CPR assessment, this will be required to be completed on the floor and may last for a minimum of 2 mins.

Learners do not need good literacy skills to complete the Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF), but there will be a multiple choice paper at the end of the course. Should anyone experience difficulties with this style of assessment this can be completed verbally in certain circumstances. Please contact us for further details. We would strongly recommend that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

For learners with English as a second language, a small pocket dictionary may be useful to help translate. If you feel you would benefit from receiving any course materials prior to starting your training then please get in touch.

Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training.
