The aim of the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (FAW) is to enable learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.
Who Should Take This Qualification ?
You should take this course if you are required to complete a First Aid at Work course for the purpose of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981. This may mean that you have assessed your working environment and decided that you need one (or more) full First Aid at Work Qualified persons on site.
There are no prerequisites for this course. You will be required to complete practical activities & assessments during the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Initial). Learners do not need good literacy skills to complete the course or qualification, but there will be a multiple choice paper at the end of the course. Already Have a Current First Aid at Work Certificate ?If you already hold a current First Aid at Work certificate then you do not need to complete the full three days of the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Initial). Instead you are eligible for the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Requalification) which only lasts two days. You can complete the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Requalification) as long as the last date of the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Requalification) qualification is no more than one calendar month after the expiry date of your current First Aid at Work certificate. What Will I Learn ?
During the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Initial) you will completed two units. The first will teach you to deal with emergency situations in the work place, such as performing CPR or dealing with someone who is choking. You will also learn how to be a good first aider, and how to deal with a first aid situation. The second unit will help you deal with illness and further injury in the work place. Topics such as Heart Attacks, Strokes, Epilepsy & Diabetes are covered, along with further insight into injuries such as burns, fractures and wounds.
The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work has two units that learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.
