The Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling qualification outlines the reasons for safer manual handling and the legal requirements. Learners will develop an understanding of how risk assessments can improve safety, the theory of safe movement principles and how to reduce the risk of harm. It is suitable for all employees to raise their awareness of the risks of unsafe manual handling practices and for people who might have to carry out manual handling as part of their job, e.g. handling deliveries, parcels and boxes.

Who Should Take This Qualification ?

You should take this qualification if you perform any manual handling activities as part of your job.


Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other prerequisites for this qualification. ou will be required to complete practical activities during the Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling. Learners do not need good literacy skills to complete the course or qualification, but there will be a multiple choice paper at the end of the course. Should anyone experience difficulties with this style of assessment this can be completed verbally in certain circumstances. Please contact us for further details.
